Mattei’s Musical Performance Has Been Compared To “A Dirty Martini As Exquisite As A Fine Aged Wine Served Up ‘Hot’ On The Rocks!”

Derived from her birth name, “Marie,” Re is a Berklee College of Music graduate; she earned her bachelor’s degree in guitar performance. The New Jersey native launched her career in the live music entertainment sector right out of the gate as a twenty-one-year-old. Responding to a personal, hand-written invitation (received just weeks before her graduation), Mattei auditioned for the all-female, Top 40, seven-piece band—the Uptown Girls. She landed the guitar-player/vocal gig on the spot. The opportunity opened doors to enable Mattei to become a global performer; she toured with the group around the world in a three-year stint appearing at nightclubs and military bases in Japan, the Philippines, Singapore and Hawaii.

Mattei moved to Music City in the early 90s with the purpose to direct her concentrations toward her songwriting and recording skills to ultimately launch her independent solo career. Her talents were applauded early on by the music industry and her peers. Her first collaboration (“Broken Rose”—a Rick McMahon co-write) received honorable mentions in two categories (for both music and lyrics) at the Music City Song Festival. Mattei has been tapped to perform at the Bluebird Café, Opryland Hotel and the Tennessee State Fair (WSM-AM stage) and, most-recently, made an impromptu appearance at NAMM 2017 (Nashville). Teaming with producer Bart Pursley, she recorded and released her debut single, “Country Love,” in 2014.

Poised to introduce brand new music, Mattei is currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on her upcoming album titled BELIEVIN’ IS SEEIN’ (anticipated in early spring 2018 from her independent label TrendyGirl Records). The 6-song CD features Mattei originals and co-writes including her latest single, “Bump, Bump, Bump” (Sept. 2017). Mattei wrote the “back-in-the-swing” tune with Danielle Todd and co-produced the track alongside Bartley Pursley (who has also produced notable, award-winning artists such as Big & Rich, Gretchen Wilson and Liz Carlisle, and has engineered projects for Blake Shelton and Montgomery Gentry). The storyline transforms the darkness of love-loss and heartache to an illuminated freedom. Tapping into Mattei’s affinity for traditional country (Tammy Wynette, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash and Johnny Rodriguez) and gravitation toward 80s pop rock trendsetters, eerie steel and electric guitar riffs set the tone for this failed love story while the chorus brings to life a revived spirit portrayed by a powerful bass drum. Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert make lyrical guest appearances as “girl-power” motivators.

Mattei is a “must-see” musical entertainer. Her sultry, soulful voice and magnetic energy clearly reveal her passion for music. She brings stories to life to satisfy music enthusiasts with a taste for contemporary country steeped in tradition and even those with a more flavorful palate for something with just a touch of seasoning. Drink up!
